Arriving at the Joburg Zoo at the crack or dawn was no picnic, however as we started setting up hearing the monkeys screaming at each other and the sound of them swinging in the trees, hearing all the birds waking up around us... felt like we were part of the Lion King sequel!! As we started dressing the tables you could see the Elephants walking around in the back drop to this truly enchanted day.
The Theme; Mad about Miway. And did it look picturesque or what? 3 Different table settings made up this colourful and imaginative day; 1: Over sized Teapots/ teacups with greens and the "painted" red roses, with over sized playing cards and some clocks. The 2nd was colourful hats with some flower arrangements and tags with the words for the day, with old books stacked around. And the 3rd was hat boxes in different colours and shapes.
We had over 200 balloons prepared for the chess pieces that were in the walkway, however only realized on arrival that this is not permitted in the Zoo to prevent any balloons falling in the enclosures and the animals choking! Talk about adding to the effect of feeling like you are in another world!!
The entertainment for the day was the 3 lovely ladies from Madame Zingara, known as ;Tons of Fun'. They are absolutely breathtaking.
All the sound was provided by Chresos Xekalos, and SA DJ Music. A plethora of Pimm's cocktails and some gorgeous desserts and cupcakes were readily available for the guests enjoyment, and I am quite sure if that Ellie knew what was happening just over the fence he would have made his way across too!!
Wonderful weather, beautiful setting and gorgeous decor all played a part in making this day such a success. As well as the hands of many and the well oiled machine and it's working parts being Jennifer Singleton, Steph Coetzee and Teneale du Plessis.
